Spending the night in the desert - a highlight
The desert, with its silence, is a truly special experience. After dinner, you'll sit around the campfire under the starry sky with good music and get to know each other.
You'll find yourself feeling truly at home; the comfort and food at the camp leave little to be desired. The tent and mattress are really comfortable, and you'll sleep well.
Camp locations
We set up our camp in the dunes near the Dakar Bivouac or the Dakar off-road start. Far enough away to be undisturbed by the light and noise, but close enough to experience the Dakar Bivouac feeling.
Camp organization
Our experienced team transports the camp equipment and sets everything up by the time you reach camp after each day's stage.
Due to the vast distances covered in the Dakar Rally, potential route changes, and weather conditions, you may occasionally be asked to help with setting up camp. However, this shouldn't be a problem on an adventure trip and is not the norm.
The luggage of bike and buggy participants will be transported; 4x4 adventurers will take their personal luggage with them in their vehicles.
In case of inclement weather, we have alternative accommodations, such as desert villages or bungalows, where available. Since this cannot be planned, a high degree of flexibility is required from all participants. The weather in Saudi Arabia is generally very stable, and there is very little rain, although it can be heavy.
Tents and Sleeping
All camping equipment is provided by us.
We have a spacious, high-quality, four-season pop-up tents with three layers of insulation that can be set up and taken down in seconds. An insulating mat is located under the tent, and inside you'll find a padded floor for the sleeping mattress and your personal belongings. A small rug is placed in front of the tent entrance to prevent sand from being tracked in.
You'll sleep on a very comfortable air mattress provided by us, along with the best and warmest sleeping bag. All equipment has been tested in the desert. Of course, you are also welcome to bring your own gear.
You'll be amazed at how well you sleep in the desert!
Toilets and Showers
We are particularly proud to offer you a shower tent with hot water and toilet tents with high-quality camping toilets. We carry enough water to ensure you have an uninterrupted showering experience, even for ladies with long hair.
Camp Meals
At camp, you'll receive breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner, as well as cold and hot drinks. Our professional chef will spoil you with simply prepared meals. Vegetarian dishes as well as dishes for allergy sufferers are of course available.
For breakfast, we serve a small buffet with tea, coffee, and cappuccino.
For the road, you can prepare snacks from the breakfast buffet, which you can take with you in a provided snack box.
In the evening, upon arrival at camp, you'll be offered a few bites to stave off your initial hunger until dinner.
For drinks, we serve water and soft drinks, as well as non-alcoholic beer. Alcohol is still not an issue in Saudi Arabia.
You'll eat your meals in the communal tent on comfortable chairs; we provide proper plates and metal cutlery, as well as drinking glasses and cups.
An overnight stay in the desert under the stars is something very special; we offer good food and a high level of camping comfort. Pure Dakar feeling.
Sitting together around the campfire
The campfire is a highlight of every evening. We sit together and chat over music.
Large tents as an extra
Upon request, we can provide tents measuring 2.5 x 2.5 to 3 x 3 meters with enough height to stand upright inside.
These tents feature a padded floor, a cot, a table and chair, and offer ample space for your luggage and personal belongings.
A large rug is placed in front of the tent, providing a comfortable place to sit without tracking sand inside.

Desert Camp FAQ
-
The camp locations are located in the dunes, close to the Dakar Bivouac, whenever possible. We make sure we have good cell phone coverage, but this isn't always possible. Starlink internet should be activated in Saudi Arabia soon.
Although proximity to the Dakar Bivouac is desirable, it's not necessarily conducive to a good night's sleep; work and vehicle testing will continue until 3 a.m. The Dakar Bivouac is fully lit all night. The connecting stage to the off-road start begins at 5:30 a.m., so there won't be much of a night's sleep. Whenever possible, we set up camp so that we're nestled between the dunes and not too far from the Dakar Bivouac or the off-road start.
-
The camp is set up and dismantled by a dedicated team and transported from location to location using our own transport. You can either take your personal belongings with you in your 4x4 pickup or leave them for transport with the camp equipment if you're booked on the enduro or buggy tour.

A tent with comfortable chairs and tables creates a pleasant atmosphere for meals and socializing with music and chilled drinks, and provides shelter from the wind and the night's chill. Rain, in and of itself, isn't a big issue in Saudi Arabia.

Each participant will receive their own sleeping tent and comfortable mattress. For hygiene reasons, you'll need to bring your own sleeping bag and pillow.
Each tent has a padded groundsheet to insulate you from below and a small rug at the entrance to prevent sand from getting in.
Individuals receive a pop-up tent measuring approximately 2.5 x 1.5 meters, which offers plenty of space for your clothes. The tent can be set up and taken down in minutes. Smaller tents are warmer at night!
For couples and people sharing a tent, we have large tents with approximately 3×3 meters and room for 2-3 people, but these require a little more time to set up and take down.

After a day out in the desert, you'll be tired and won't stay awake too long anyway. Those who want to go to bed early can simply choose a campsite a little further away from the campfire. Early risers will find coffee and tea and a few snacks until breakfast is served at 7:30. At 8:00, we'll depart for the Dakar off-road start.
In January, dusk begins at 6:00 p.m., and the first light appears at 6:30 a.m. Depending on the weather and where we are in Saudi Arabia, temperatures can reach up to 25 degrees Celsius during the day and not fall below 10-15 degrees Celsius at night. In bad weather and rain, it can get considerably colder in the north, so warm outdoor clothing is definitely recommended.
